Wonderful World
It's amazing that in two years we have four more little ones that need to be added to this video!

"Theme", Photo by Terri Ainslie
The word "Theme" was written on the back of this framed photo, so I thought perhaps it was for a course assignment.

Sprinkler Fun!
I took a fun set of shots the other day of kids in sprinklers. We're back to a week of rain.

Miriam's Christmas Present
Here's the story. In high school, Miriam was always TP'ing other people's cars with her friends. Somehow her car never got TP'd; apparently she never got caught. Monica and I felt that was just wrong! We TP'd her car Christmas morning in broad daylight while Mims was sleeping in. I can't stay up late and Monica couldn't get up early, so it was the best we could do. We took a pictures for evidence with the new camera we were giving Miriam. When she got up she was in a complete tizzy, trying to figure out which one of her friends had done this and was on the phone with Katrina. Until she opened her present and looked at the photos inside! It was bitterly cold that morning--couldn't even crack a smile. See video account.

Happy Birthday Dad
Sorry I didn't get a chance to write yesterday. The grandkids are on summer schedule and occupying Grandma quite a bit.
I remember (or remember remembering) sitting up on the tall dresser while you were shaving and asking about the holes in your white t-shirt. You told me about the days you used to drive the stagecoach and took arrows from the Indians. I do remember going out on a little rowboat on the San Francisco Bay and being scared and confident at the same time. I remember fishing with you in Florida. And then all the camping trips, sometimes in places where I'm sure there wasn't so much as an outhouse within 100 miles. And backpacking and hiking and the watermelon you told me to go fetch from the creek at Sequoia which the bears had reached first!
Thanks for so many things. At random, for moving us back from Texas when grad school didn't work out our first year of marriage. For building a terrific gate on our deck which I'm using as I write to secure kids while they play outside. For that disposal you put in at the cabin. For talking me through a heating crisis up there with -20F weather outside, and who knows how many other occasions of expert advice. Well, these are just off the top of my head.
Hope your birthday was wonderful. And many more.
Love you,
Sharon

The Mountain Bike Story
First of a series of stories told at the family reunion in Ventura, May 11, 2008 ("In vino, veritas"). An object lesson in missing a reunion and the chance to defend yourself.
